For the past 4 years UBC A Cappella has sent some of its members to compete in the United States in the ICCA (International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella). This is the competition that the popular film, Pitch Perfect is based off of.

Being part of an ICCA team requires a minimum extra 2 hours rehearsal per week, which increase nearer to competition. The competitions are hosted in America so you must be able to travel. There are multiple rounds to this competition, which means our success in the competition varies by year. Last year we were quite successful with our performances at quarterfinals. As we did last year, we will have two groups that will perform this year at the ICCAs.

It is important to note that being a part of our ICCA groups is not a full-year commitment, however you must be fully committed to it for the time that it runs. It will require you to rehearse once per week from October through December, and do 1-2 rehearsals per week in January-February up till your first competition (quarterfinals) which will happen on a weekend in early 2018 somewhere in the Pacific Northwest (between here and Portland, OR).

The ICCA are hosted and created by Varsity Vocals, all information pertaining to the competitions and events can be found atΒ www.varsityvocals.com
